NYC Winter

Blasts of warmth thrusting up through the subway grates.
All-weather warriors braving the elements
As they run along the West Side Highway.

The extraordinary sight of
Drunk Santas on a pub crawl and
Pantless subway riders at Union Square.

Skaters swirling and slipping at Wollman Rink,
Wrapped in bundles, their breath steaming
As the city glitters around them.

The wonders of: the metropolis in miniature at the
Train Show in the Bronx, and the precision of the
Falling Wooden Soldiers at Radio City.

Legions lining up to view the windows on Fifth Avenue
Where dazzling displays offer tradition and whimsy in equal measure.
The melody of a thousand voices from a hundred places

Everywhere throngs of effervescent faces
taking in the sights, sounds, and smells
Of the greatest city in the world.
